Kolata discusses the function of raised fields associated with the Tiwanaku society

Raised-field agricultural systems have received attention from scholars involved in the analysis of prehistoric agricultural intensification in the New World. “Fluid and Thermal Analysis of Pre-Columbian Tiwanaku (500–1100 CE) Raised-Field Agricultural Systems of Bolivia,” recently published by Alan L. Kolata and Charles R. Ortloff in Water, discusses the function of raised fields associated with the Tiwanaku society located on the southern rim of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia.
