Roberto Young is a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of Chicago. His research explores the intersections of political economy, language revitalization, migration, and semiotics. He is currently working on a project chronicling the sociolinguistic experiences of Mayan-speaking migrants to evaluate increased displacement of Indigenous communities in Latin America and emergent discourses and communication practices. Roberto holds an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
