Graduate student Maira Hayat wins the 2018 Sylvia Forma Prize from the Association for Feminist Anthropology, a section of the American Anthropological Association. Hayat's paper, “The Gender of Corruption: Bureaucrats, Bodies and the Female Complaint—Notes from an Irrigation Bureaucracy in Pakistan,” was selected for its skillful blend of ethnography and feminist theory. The prize comes with a cash award and will be presented at the AFA business meeting during the 2018 AAA meeting in San Jose, CA. Professors William T.S. Mazzarella and John Kelly are her advisors.
